Consultant Neonatologist / Paediatrician

We are seeking a Neonatologist or Paediatrician with a special interest in Neonatal Medicine to join the Level 3 NICU at Dunedin Hospital, supporting babies and families across the Southern region.

The role is a permanent 0.8–1.0 FTE, negotiable, offering flexibility and variety within a supportive, close-knit multidisciplinary team. You’ll provide expert neonatal care across a broad range of presentations, including extreme prematurity, high-frequency ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide and therapeutic hypothermia, with opportunities to contribute to neonatal retrievals across Otago and Southland, antenatal and perinatal decision-making, teaching, mentoring and wider service development.

For dual-trained clinicians, there are also opportunities to contribute to ambulatory general paediatric care and develop areas of special interest. There are strong teaching and research links with the University of Otago, along with the opportunity to help shape future models of neonatal and child health care across the Southern region.

Base salary range: NZ$198,386 – NZ$282,645 (on call and job size on top)
