Diagnostic Radiologist - central North Island

About the Role

The department has an interesting and varied workload carrying out approximately 96,000 examinations a year in the provincial city of Palmerston North, servicing a total regional population of around 166,000.   Regional services to a larger population also include: Oncology, Breast Screening, Renal and Urology, with clinics held at the hospital including Respiratory, Rheumatology, Paediatrics and visiting specialists from Wellington for Neurosurgery and Cardiothoracic surgery.Palmerston North Hospital has up to date equipment including CT, Fluoroscopy, Ultrasound, DSA, and seven general digital radiography rooms and Nuclear Medicine with two gamma cameras.  There is the opportunity to work in Breast Screening.

Palmerston North itself is a vibrant, multicultural city that is home to outstanding primary, secondary, and tertiary schools, including Massey University. There are excellent restaurants and shops, and ample local opportunities for outdoor activities including mountain biking, hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. We are also an easy drive to the Tasman Sea, Hawkes Bay, Mount Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu, and Lake Taupō.

Working in New Zealand

New Zealand has a Multi-Employer Collective Agreement in place across all the District Health Boards and salaries are consistent based upon years of post-specialist experience. NZDr can provide you with all the details for this. 

Benefits include:

• Base salary (NZ$164,000- $244,560) + allowances for job size, on call and availability.
• 6 weeks annual leave
• 2 weeks / $16,000 CME/CPD Allowance
• Reimbursement of your practicing registration fees, college membership and indemnity insurance
• Relocation packages vary with each DHB.
