FT Permanent position or 1 year Fixed Term Contract

This region is ideally located in the centre of the North Island of New Zealand and is surrounded by an abundance of Lakes, forestry and mountain ranges. This provides its community with unlimited access to excellent water based sports, hiking, beaches and ski fields.

We are looking for a dynamic Specialist Geriatrician with excellent skills in Older Persons and Rehabilitation to join the team. The role is based in a purpose built 16-bedded ward that provides care for older patients and those requiring rehabilitation or who have suffered a stroke. The team consists of excellent clinicians who work collaboratively together to provide the best outcomes for patients. The service provides outpatient and community assessments in both Rotorua and Taupo and runs a specialist Parkinson's disease interdisciplinary clinic and a memory clinic.

We are looking for applicants with specialist training in geriatric medicine that are either vocationally registered with the New Zealand Medical Council (NZMC) or for overseas trained applicants who would be eligible for vocational registration. As the hospital is a teaching hospital you will be required to support 4th and 6th year medical students and medical registrars in training. For this role there is an expectation to participate in the weekend acute medical call roster.

If you wish to join a great team of enthusiastic people who enjoy working with older people, then please contact us for further detail.
