About the role

Nelson's Anaesthesia team consists of experienced consultants, ANZCA trainees, skilled anaesthetic technicians, and registered nurse assistants to the anaesthetist. They pride themselves on a collegial environment, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration and a commitment to continuous learning and development.

The Anaesthesia service provides support to the acute pain management service and other departments including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental, Mental Health, and the Emergency department. The service also offers anaesthesia for visiting subspecialty surgeons in Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastics, and Maxillofacial Surgery.

The position offers an excellent work'life balance and a broad case mix across surgical specialties, encompassing both elective and acute care, within a supportive and collegial environment

Salary & benefits

Base salary range: NZ$198,386 – NZ$282,645 (on call and job size on top)
6 weeks annual leave
Generous CME leave and funding (currently up to NZ$18,000 per annum under the collective agreement)
Relocation assistance: flights, accommodation, vehicle and freight
Professional indemnity support arrangements (varies by employer)
